A standard violin has four strings, but some violins may have a fifth, sixth, or even eight strings.

It's absolutely not possible to learn violin by reading books only. At least manage to get some good violin tutorials online or go to a violin trainer. anyway, these two books are best. Suzuki Violin Method. Galamian.
