The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exam consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview/Personality Test. The syllabus varies for each stage. Preliminary Examination: General Studies Paper I: Current events, history, geography, Indian polity, economy, general science, and environmental ecology. General Studies Paper II (CSAT): Comprehension, logical reasoning, analytical ability, data interpretation, and basic numeracy. Main Examination: Paper A: Indian language (qualifying nature). Paper B: English (qualifying nature). Essay. General Studies I to IV: Indian heritage and culture, history, geography, society, polity, governance, ethics, integrity, and aptitude. Optional Subject Paper I & II (chosen by the candidate). Interview/Personality Test: This stage assesses the candidate's personality, leadership, communication skills, and depth of understanding on various issues.
