The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System) are both widely accepted tests to assess English language proficiency. The main difference lies in their format and focus. TOEFL is predominantly used in North America and follows a computer-based format. It assesses academic English skills with an emphasis on multiple-choice questions, integrated tasks, and independent essay writing. IELTS, on the other hand, is commonly accepted in the UK, Australia, and many other countries. It offers two versions: Academic and General Training. Academic IELTS evaluates English language skills in an academic context, while General Training IELTS focuses on everyday usage in work and social environments. IELTS includes a face-to-face speaking component and assesses skills through a mix of multiple-choice, short-answer, and essay questions. read less
