Both exams have differences , so advice would be that thoroughly go through the criteria and understand your needs. After evaluating both the things, make a choice that's best suitable.

TOEFL and IELTS have a similar pattern. TOEFL socre is a number from 0 to 120 and IELTS score is a band from 0-9.
