We often find ourselves needing to store data. In the simpleset form it could be a teacher's attendence notebook which contains all the students names for a particular class and the student's attendence for that year. We can easily store that data in a attendence register or a excel sheet or perhaps use an advance specialised software called DBMS. If we store data in a notebook or excel it is very difficult to ->search a particular student's attendence on a certain day ->calculate the total attendence of any student or monthly attendence or the pattern of his absence from school ->protect the data from other people or untracked changes To use all these featues easily and a lot more data related functions there exist DBMS software(Data Base Management Systems) for example SQL server by microsoft, Oracle by oracle and other open softwares such as MYSQL or POSTGRESQL. read less

I need your help to choose my career as I have three years of gap between my education. I know SQL. Can anyone tell me should I choose MS SQL server or oracle because I am interested in the database? Which one will be better to learn to get into the IT industry? Please help me! Thank you!
As you are strong and interested in SQL, why not to choose ETL Testing? It has a good career ahead in data projects. To survive in the market, you need both Oracle & SQL Server. Actually, both are almost same but are different products.
