What is your view on the yesteryear English Grammar Book titled "High School English Grammar and Composition" by Wren&Martin? Is it still available? Reminiscence of my School Days during 1960s. Our English Teacher used to conduct special classes just one day before English exam.Usually exams would start with English 1 paper as the first and which would fall on a Monday.So Sunday would be a busy day to pick up grammar like "Direct&Indirect Speech". A lot of example sentences would be discussed.These sentences would predominantly carry names like Rama&Sita in Indian edition Wren&Martin books.The coincidence is "gRAmMAr" consists of RAMA.

You are right. The book - "High School English Grammar & Composition" by P. C. Wren and H. Martin used to be _the_ Holy Book for us so far as English grammar is concerned. This used to be the thickest book that we used to lug along on days when English Grammar used to be taught. An abridged version appeared after a few years; this version was of course thinner and therefore less expensive.
