Pronunciation of Mid-Word American English T + D ?

for example : Water - Here 'T' is in the middle position, if it is pronounced in Indian style, it should sound like 'T' in Tree. But in American English, the accent of "T' should sound like Wader making 'D' sound softer. It only happens when 'T' is in the middle position.
