the best way to learn english, is to subscribe to english news paper, every headlines, in the news paper and word finding and using it while speaking in broken english in start will help them to improve fast and with fun.

I would recommend you great books called English File by Oxford University Press. These books provide the right mix of language, motivation, and opportunity to get students talking. They really helped me start speaking good English.

1. Good command over basic English Grammar
2. Good grasp over situational conversation sentences
3. Need to develop an ear to listen and understand English properly- listen to news, watch movies
4. Some practice of speaking English- in groups/ class or online
6. Use computer technology to speed up learning process- use Skype to practice online with friends
