Start reading anything and everything that holds your sight, and can rectify your usage of words according to the situation. Use thesaurus while writing so that you can improve on the synonyms or antonyms; a single word can give you a variety of meaning and placement structure in a sentence. You can ever start listening to few of the web series where they have started using the long faded word structures that persist well in our dictionary, and that is a brilliant way to enhance your word stock. You can even begin writing innovative articles wherein you can research to get hold of new words and phrases.

Hello!

As everyone usually says, it is essential to keep reading many books and articles according to your interest. Marking down the new words and putting them to practice is equally necessary. Keep a day out of your week to revise your new set of words. Also, I think it is essential to THINK in the language we are yearning to learn. It helps significantly in speaking out the words that we learnt without any hesitation. It is personally my way of improving my vocabulary. I hope it was helpful.

Hi Glory,

You can improve your vocabulary by reading good books, standard newspapers, and watching movies or documentaries of different genre. It is a slowly built-over-time skill which requires a lot of patience and consistent efforts. You can also check out word of the day on online dictionaries like Oxford and Merriam Webster if you do not know where to start. I hope this helps!

There is only one method to improve your vocabulary effectively, that is associating the new word with your current example. So bear with me, I am going to explain everything, that will help you immensely as it has helped me. I was also not much in English a few years back, then I did wonders, and now, I am teaching the English language. I have been certified by "Teaching as a foreign language".How not to study vocabulary?

1). Do not just remember any vocabulary from any book.

2). Do not memorise. You can not remember for a long time. There are no fruitful results of just memorising.

3). Do not separate the vocabulary from the sentence. It is one of the significant mistake peoples do.

Now, How to study:

1. Take any book which interests you and read as intensely as Budhha did meditate. Now, Let me explain. While you are reading., you will be encountered with many words. Instead of writing and just mugging up, try to draw the context of that word. The best way to be doing that is to find the root of words. You can easily search on the Internet and try to invest some time here to grasp the context. Do not be in a hurry as most of the people do. As a result of that, people do not even speak correctly.

2). You know better, our brains work in pictures, so if you manage to picturise the whole vocabulary in any context, you have hooked in your mind.

3) Always study any vocabulary in full sentences. For example; If I consider the word"imminent"...do not just write "imminent" and it's meaning, but writing it with a full sentence, where you have taken this word from .so, I would write"imminent threat".that will be staying in your mind longer.

Last, just have a look once in 30 days. You will see change dramatically.

Thank you! (let me know in comments if you have any problems).

2. With the help of apps----, there are various apps available at the play store and app store which provides the platform to learn new words regularly in the blink of an eye. A person just has to use their fingers for scrolling and show a little amount of dedication.  E.g.-- Vocab builder.

3. Traditional way--- Books, novels and newspaper can help if a person is fond of reading.
