How do I speak fluent English?

Khaleel A Shariff

As a trainer having conducted over 1000 training programs & interacted with a lot of students, I get a common question, “How do I speak fluent English?”

The only way to really learn the English language is not just reading English newspapers or seeing English movies. It definitely helps in picking up new words & adding words to your vocabulary. If there is any one thing which would help you in learning a new language, it is something which I was taught when I was in the third standard by my English teacher. She said, "If you want to speak in English, Think in English". This one statement has always been with me. I happen to travel a lot on work. When I have a session to conduct in Chennai, when I step out of my house & start my journey to Chennai, I start thinking in Tamil & the locals do not get a clue that I am not a local. The same applies when I travel to Hyderabad, I start thinking in Telugu. Other times, try speaking to me in Tamil or Telugu, I would find it difficult to find the words.

Thank you very much in advance.

God Bless!!!
