The first step would be to read. If you are comfortable with the language and your understanding is good, then you could try short stories, novels, articles, etc... Choose material that you can understand and enjoy. Believe in yourself, and do not let anyone deter you from your aim. The important thing to remember while reading is that you should always look up in the dictionary any word or usage you do not understand. DO NOT GUESS at the meaning; this habit alone will take you a long way in learning to use the language properly. Once you understand the written word, try speaking - there is no way to learn to speak except by speaking. Practice at home in front of a mirror if you have to, but speak clearly and continue to speak even if you make mistakes. When someone points out a mistake or when you realize you made one, correct yourself immediately, thank the person who helped correct you and move on. That will reduce the number of people who laugh at you - the simple fact is, you can't laugh at someone who is thanking you for helping them learn something. If you start with these simple steps, soon, you will be the one giving helpful suggestions to others in language skill development. :) read less
