Jenkins is a integration tool. It checks te changes happened in the SVN server and sends email notifications if any change occurs in build

Also i would like to add few things.. Jenkin creates job that may be build management which continuously checks build in SVN or GITHUB and if new build is there it commits it and deploys it. Also if you can integrate your automation testing scripts with jenkings you can run those scripts when you will be sleeping at your home jenkin will do that for you. It will creat report and send mail which script execution run successfully and which one failed. Also you can run jenkin jobs on daily weekly monthly basis. And also you can create sanity suite or shakeout suite of your test cases and you can integrate those with jenkins. It really reduces your time a lot hence jenkins is used. read less
