Why is a DesiredCapibilities class used in Selenium? I am able to execute my scripts without using DesiredCapibilities. When is this class used?

Desired capabilities class is used when you want to change the default behavior of the browser, ex if you want launch every browser instance as in maximized state then desired capabilities class will solve the purpose.
