History is main optional subjects for many candidates due to its statick portion and nature. History does not include any current topics so if you are good at remembering dates, events, theory then history can be good subject for you. But there is Map location Plotting part for 50 Marks. If you are good at locating sites then this is optional for you. But it has vast syllabus mainly divided into 4 sections Ancient History, Medieval History, Modern History and World history.

You can go for Shubhra Ranjan Mam's PSIR Notes. All the Statick + Philophical portion is well covered in those notes. Also read Laxmikanth Sirs Book for Indian Political System and daily current affairs is must for IR and Comparative politics. But shubhra mam notes cover around 80% of th syllabus and language is also easy so my suggestion is rather going though multiple books read notes as many times as possible and supplement these notes with current affairs and you are good to go.

1. Understand the Syllabus and Exam Pattern:

• Go through the detailed UPSC Mains syllabus for all GS papers, optional subjects, and essay.

• Analyze the previous years’ question papers to identify recurring themes and important topics.

• Write at least 2-3 answers daily, focusing on structure – Introduction, Body, Conclusion.

• Join a test series to simulate exam conditions and get feedback.

4. Master Current Affairs:

• Follow credible sources like The Hindu, Indian Express, PIB, Yojana, Kurukshetra, and Rajya Sabha TV.

• Make concise notes, categorize them under GS I-IV, and link them with static topics.

5. Develop Essay Writing Skills:

• Practice essays on diverse topics – philosophical, socio-economic, political, and environmental.

• Follow a structured approach: Introduction, Multiple Perspectives, Examples, and a Balanced Conclusion.

6. Ethics and Case Studies:

• Study the Ethics syllabus thoroughly, focusing on key thinkers, concepts, and values.

• Practice case studies by analyzing real-life scenarios and applying ethical frameworks.

7. Optional Subject Preparation:

• Select an optional subject based on interest, scoring potential, and availability of resources.

• Prepare concise notes and practice previous years’ questions regularly.

8. Revision and Consolidation:

• Revise regularly, focusing on high-yield topics and frequently asked questions.

• Maintain a consolidated notebook for key facts, data, and case studies for last-minute revision.

9. Mock Tests and Analysis:

• Join a full-length test series for all GS papers and optional.

• Analyze performance, identify weaknesses, and work on time management.

10. Stay Healthy and Manage Stress:

• Take regular breaks, practice meditation, and maintain a balanced diet.

• Stay motivated, avoid distractions, and maintain a positive mindset.
