When you shoot in RAW you record all of the data from the sensor. But when you shoot in jpeg, image information is compressed and lost. No information is compressed with RAW. Should I use flash during day time while taking portraits ?

Try not to use a flash if you have sufficient light to click a portrait. If you get a good picture variation ISO, shutter speed and aperture, do not use flash. If lighting conditions are not in your favor, use flash, but always use a diffuse. Direct flash sometime burns good images.
