Why are C pointers considered hard and Java object variables not?

Pointers in C is not a 'hard to understand' concept. Most people feel hard bcz it needs an understanding of memory allocation, address, data types and pointer handling.

Why is C language an object-based language?

C language is not an object based language. It is a procedural language. C can be used in such a way that it can perform some operations similar to that of an object-oriented language. But it is not designed with facilities to support OOP concepts.
