Indian music is influenced by Hindu Mythology according to which Lord Brahma created four Vedas: Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda, Atharvaveda. In which, Samveda is the Veda of music. Lord Brahma passed the knowledge to Lord Shiva who passed it to Goddess Saraswati, the Devi of knowledge and learning.

Classical music especially Indian classical music is based on Ragas which were created long time back. Each Rag has its right time to sing. Each raag has its own effect on surroundings and on the body and mind of the singer. Mainly it impacts brain positively. It has calming effect on mind. It is so because it is created by spiritual powers.
