Why someone rises to become a CEO of a company while someone else of same experience is finding it hard to even save his job?

What I understand is that every individual is limitless and has a potential to touch the sky. But what separates the two individuals is their mindset. This is the only differentiating factor between the two which is why the results are different.

Coming from a rich corporate background of 7+ years to becoming a successful entrepreneur in 5 years, I have best of both the mindsets.
