I am a 12th standard student. How long will I take to able to do public speaking?

Read a lot on various topics, keep abreast of current affairs and seize every opportunity to speak in front of small crowd at formal / informal gathering. It depends on how serious you are and how much time you spend to practise PUBLIC SPEAKING. One tip for YOU is never practise infront of a mirror it wont help you much instead start recording video and see the video again and again note down the mistakes you did and try to improve it in the next video. its the best way to improve your speaking skills. Hi Vijay, Thanks for your query. Well, here is the thing...... What I personally feel is that, there is no real 'time frame' attached to developing into a good public speaker! What is required is that you have more than enough oratory skills or in other words, excellent communication skills. The language that you use is immaterial, although, the English language is more preferred. But there are certain basics that you need to keep in mind. The following should help: - 1. The subject - you need to know your subject inside out, be thorough with the subject you want to speak on. 2. Know your audience - this is imperative, you will need to tune your message according to the audience. 3. Your delivery style matters - this is where you bring into play voice modulation. 4. Practice - nothing, I repeat, nothing beats this exercise. Even seasoned public speakers, practice before they go on stage to. So I suggest, practice when ever you get the opportunity. Maybe alone, with a family member, or a friend or even your teacher. The end result should be that you receive valuable feedback to further improve your speaking. If you follow the above mentioned points, I should think that within a week you should be able to speak in front of an audience and do a good job. Hope the above was helpful. It's not that tough if you could try now then it's never too late. Start by speaking on any of your favourite topic all alone in a room first and then may be on stage but all alone first. Then slowly ask 2-3 of your friends to join and see how much you have improved. Just remember "For you nothing is difficult in this world".
