Both are accepted in Australia. I would suggeest you to go for the PTE.

Hi According to me both are easier provided you practice diligently. However, PTE is computer based and IELTS has both. Sridhar Santhanam, Certified IELTS and PTE Trainer.

IELTS/General and Academic English Teacher (9 Years Experinece)

It really depends on your current personal situation. Both IELTS General and PTE is widely accepted in Australia. If you feel more comfortable using a computer, take any one of the proficiency tests via the same.

Get your PTE bands (65 or 79) in first attempt !!!

Both are accepted. However, PTE is reducing the exam timing to two hours from Nov 16th this year, so PTE is preferred if you are migrating to Australia. Also, give NAATI exam for my points towards your PR.
