What test do I need to go for immigration in Australia, PTE Academic or PTE General? Are these 2 separate exams?

As far as PTE is concerned. There is only the PTE Academic. There is no PTE General as in the case of IELTS.

NO you won't be penalized. It just looks at your knowledge of the language and doesn't test for your accent as they realize you are a non-native speaker.
