General comments and updates concerning all students can be shared in online groups. But information regarding a specific student should be sent to that student's parents via email.

By maintaining an online group in facebook or other social media, where the tutor can post periodical updates would be a feasible suggestion. The group can be followed by both the parent and the student. Queries may also be asked and answered there.
