Can basic photography be done with normal camera?

Photography is an art and it can be done with any camera. People use mobile phones and get some great pictures. Its never the camera, its always the person behind the camera. If you have a camera that has manual control then it gives you more options to play with. I hope this answers your question....

Some point and shoot camera's these days have manual settings to adjust Aperture and shutter. This can give you an insight in to how DSLR work. I would say, yes to your question. But remember only some amount of basic photography is possible with point and shoot having manual settings option.
