शेख अयाज़ के पिता जीवों के प्रति दया भाव रखते थे। एक बार वे कुएँ से नहा करके वापस आए और खाना खाने बैठ गए। अभी वे पहला कौर उठाए ही थे कि उन्हें अपनी बाँह पर एक च्योंटा दिखाई दिया। वे भोजन छोड़कर उठ गए और च्योंटे को उसके घर (कुएँ के पास) छोड़ने चल पड़े। उन्होंने पत्नी से कहा कि इस बेघर को उसके घर छोड़कर भोजन करूंगा। उनके इस कथन में जीवों के प्रति संवेदनशीलता और दयालुता का भाव छिपा है।
