Insiya replied | 20/05/2016

Plein-Air painting was started by the impressionists. Instead of sitting inside a studio they started painting in the open air. This resulted in better awareness of light and shade. Sunflower field painting by Vincent Van Gogh is an example of Plein-air painting as it was done by him sitting in the sunflower field.

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists. Their desire to paint light and its changing, ephemeral qualities, coupled with the creation of transportable paint tubes and the box easel—the precursor to the plein air easels of today—allowed artists the freedom to paint “en plein air,” which is the French expression for “in the open air.” «less

Praveen 24/03/2016 in  Painting Classes

I am a beginning acrylic painter. The problem I am facing is that no matter how I seem to mix colors, I can't seem to create colors that are really vibrant. Everything looks so flat and dull after the painting has dried. I am looking for a color that almost "glows" - is it possible to get really vibrant colors with acrylic?

Veena replied | 23/04/2016

Hi Praveen. What surface are you using acrylics on?

0 0

Elaiyaraja replied | 01/06/2016

Dear friend…
Use readymade canvas cloth or board to paint acrylic colors.
And often change your water for washing your brushes.

The coating increases the abrasion resistance of Fine Art papers, so the risk of fingerprint marks and scratches are reduced. Protective Spray makes the sealing of the surface water repellent. The improved formulation is fast drying and virtually odourless. A yellowing of the print due to the spray is not possible. «less
