They don't? I think they do.
Some just find it "cooler" to learn and follow the western dances. Also, the popularity that western dance forms and non-classical dance enjoy on Indian Dance Reality shows is, I suppose, because the contestants have to come up with a new, never seen before, dance performance every week and for a appreciable Indian classical dance performance with mostly Indian audience, one week of training is nothing
