In Chapter 5, you have studied that a minimum of two points are required to draw a line.
The NCERT Class 9 Maths Chapter 6 explains the properties of the angles formed when two lines intersect each other. It likewise elucidates the properties formed when a
line intersects two or more parallel lines at different points. Several points related to
Lines and Angles will also be proven towards the end of the chapter.
6.1 Introduction
6.2 Basic Terms and Definitions
6.3 Intersecting Lines and Non-intersecting Lines
6.4 Pairs of Angles
6.5 Parallel Lines and a Transversal
6.6 Lines Parallel to the same Line
6.7 Angle Sum Property of a Triangle
6.8 Summary
Section 6.2 – In this section, you’ll study about collinear points, non-collinear points,
the arms and the vertices of an angle, the properties of an acute angle, right angle,
obtuse angle, reflex angle and more.
Section 6.3 – In this section, you’ll learn about different ways of drawing two lines -
Parallel lines or Non-intersecting and Intersecting lines.
Section 6.4 – This section gives you an exposure to different types of pairs of angles such as complementary angles, supplementary angles, linear pair of angles, adjacent angles. It also provides several compelling axioms, examples accompanied by figures,
theorems & proofs etc. to help you understand the concept better.
Section 6.5 – Here, you’ll learn what a Transversal is! You’ll acquire knowledge about
the properties of consecutive interior angles, alternate interior angles, and various
axioms and theorems related to transversal.
Section 6.6 – This section explains some of the most interesting theorems of lines parallel to the same transversal line. Several examples & solutions are given for your understanding.
Section 6.7 – In the earlier chapters, you have studied that the sum of all the angles of a
triangle is 180°. In this section, you will learn how to prove it using the axioms and theorems related to parallel lines!
