The best way to learn a language and hence develop a useful vocabulary is to speak, listen, watch and read. Just reading is not always enough as most of us are auditory and visual learners. So while you make it a habit to read, it's also important to listen to good English - like English channels - news, history, discovery, movies with a lot of dialogue, etc. as there you can hear the words being used in everyday conversation and topics.
