Quite franky, it is the will/desire to play play is all it takes. It may be slow for a person at 60, but sure is possible.

You can learn to play the basics in a few weeks - ie. to play sarali varisa, janta varisa etc. If you practise well, you'll be able to play Geethams in few months , say in 6-7 months (if you learn systematically)....
