My son, in standard 1, can grasp everything but doesn't have the patience to sit for a minute in one...

There is a process. The concentration span is 10 to 30 mins. It is slowly increased with techniques.Keep a stopwatch, start with 10 min, go on to 15 min 20 and so on. Start with a single page of work, just 15 questions, then build on.
