Interphase is the preparation phase and has 3 parts:

  1. G₁ phase: The cell grows and does its normal work.

  2. S phase: The cell copies its DNA.

  3. G₂ phase: The cell grows more and prepares to divide.

M phase is the division phase and has 2 parts: Mitosis and Cytokinesis.
Mitosis has 4 stages:

  1. Prophase – Chromosomes become visible, and spindle forms.

  2. Metaphase – Chromosomes line up in the middle.

  3. Anaphase – Chromosomes are pulled apart.

  4. Telophase – Two new nuclei form.

Then the cell splits into two.

The cell cycle has two main phases: Interphase and M phase.

Interphase is the preparation phase and has 3 parts:

  1. G₁ phase: The cell grows and does its normal work.

  2. S phase: The cell copies its DNA.

  3. G₂ phase: The cell grows more and prepares to divide.

M phase is the division phase and has 2 parts: Mitosis and Cytokinesis.
Mitosis has 4 stages:

  1. Prophase – Chromosomes become visible, and spindle forms.

  2. Metaphase – Chromosomes line up in the middle.

  3. Anaphase – Chromosomes are pulled apart.

  4. Telophase – Two new nuclei form.

Then the cell splits into two.
