Even if you make a mistake and others end up pointing that out, it will only improve your skill 2) Start reading a novel, book, newspaper in English... ...more
Hi Nikita, Best way to learn any language is to speak in that language. Here are some simple tips 1) Start speaking in English with everyone around you. Even if you make a mistake and others end up pointing that out, it will only improve your skill 2) Start reading a novel, book, newspaper in English loudly - every day. It will help you learn structure of sentences and also make you learn the pronunciation of words. Check pronunciations wherever you are not comfortable. 3) Find atleast one new word every day, learn its meaning and try using it in your sentences during the day. This will help you build your vocabulary. 4) Write a paragraph on any topic every morning and try reading it out loudly. Many a times, we realize if the sentence is framed correctly or not just by the sound of it. 5) As a lot of experts here have suggested, watching English movies (without sub titles), news channels etc and repeating those sentences loudly can also be helpful.

Its easier that way to understand the module and also add value to the clients as a consultant. SAP is not only about knowing how the SAP system works, its more about understanding the client needs and mapping it into the system. Hence a good functional knowledge is a pre requisite to any studying any module.

Dear Swati, There are a lot of techniques to improve one's communication skills and these are fairly simple ones. However, the most important aspect, before one works on any of these techniques is to identify the reason for this lack of self confidence. And this could stem from a multiple reasons - some of which could be 1) Fear of ridicule - people may make fun of you based on what you said 2) Conscious about language we speak - not all of us are blessed to have had the exposure to speaking in English. I have come across a score of people who THINK they do not speak good English (only because they do not know flowery adjectives) 3) Not sure about our own thoughts or ideas 4) Overwhelmed by the presence of seniors or foreigners 5) Lack of knowledge. There could be a few other reasons as well. Once we are able to identify what the real cause is, its easier to work upon those and makes the whole process more comfortable and effective. It will help you learn structure of sentences and also make you learn the pronunciation of words.
