JLPT refers to "Japanese Language Proficiency Test". This test is the standard at which one's Japanese language competency is graded and certified; this certification is accepted and acknowledged globally. JLPT is conducted by The Japan Foundation, functioning under the umbrella of Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
