I assume you are asking aboutt the right order of calculation in a formula. Its the BODMAS rule of mathematics. Brackets, Of(same as multiplication) , Division & Multiplication and then addition and subttraction. e.g.1 In the example below in place of numbers there can be cell references too. =10 - 3*2 + 5 /2 In this case Excel will first solve Division and Multiplication (as there are no brackets). So the steps are = 10 - 6 + 2.5 = 12.5 - 6 = 6.5 e.g. 2 =(10 - 3*2 + 5) /2 In this case Excel will first calculate the bracket. And inside the bracket it will again apply BODMAS rule. So here inside the bracket it will first solve multiplication, then addition and subtraction. And once this is done it will perform the division which is outside the bracket the steps goes like this: = (10 - 6 + 5) / 2 = (15-6)/2 =(9)/2 = 4.5 Hope this helps If you are serious about learning Excel, then explore my online course, which gives you unlimited access of all the 144 how to videos for one year.
