A chemical bond is a force of attraction between atoms or ions; it helps form chemical compounds. The bonds can be strong bonds or primary bounds like covalent, ionic and metallic bonds.
They can also be weak bonds or secondary bonds like dipole-dipole interactions, London dispersion force and hydrogen bonding.
A covalent bond is a chemical bond that involves the sharing of electron pairs between atoms. In the case of Carbon, it contains four electrons in its outer shell. Therefore, it can form four covalent bonds with other atoms or molecules. This helps Carbon to fill its energy level and, thereby, to achieve stability.
