No, it is not a compulsion to join LL.B with CS. CS + LL.B is a good combination as regards Career prospects. Having a dual degree (LLB & CS), you earn an extra edge over other candidates for job prospects & also you have a specialization in Company law & gain good drafting skills.

Company Secretary

It is not compulsory but advisable because most of the private and govt companies prefer those candidates who have dual degrees. Else it depends on your knowledge also, only a cs degree holder achieves a lot more than dual degree holder

No it is not compulsory to do CS along with LLB. A person should do CS when he is interested in Corporate jobs (when his aim after completing law is to join a firm) or when he has a interest in business and company law.

Hi Neeraj. You have asked a very important question. To being with, let me tell you that it is just compulsory to join LLB with CS, irrespective of the fact that most people prefer this combination. The Company Secretary in itself offers so much opportunity with corporate that you just don't need to acquire any additional degrees to get placed. Further, India currently faces an acute shortage of full time company secretary after the introduction of the new Company Act, 2013 (section 383A of Companies Act, 2013) which mandates every company having a paid up share capital of Rs 5 crores to have a whole time company secretary. To sum up, it is not mandatory to go for any course other than company secretary since it itself offers huge opportunities in both corporate and own practice. At the same time, having more degrees never goes waste. In case you find the answer satisfactory, please click the like button. All the best. Regards, NorthStar Academy read less
