Q1(ii):
Form the pair of linear equations in the following problems, and find their solutions graphically. (ii) 5 pencils and 7 pens together cost ` 50, whereas 7 pencils and 5 pens together cost ` 46. Find the cost of one pencil and that of one pen.
Solution :
Given:
1. The cost of 5 pencils and 7 pens together is ₹ 50.
2. The cost of 7 pencils and 5 pens together is ₹ 46.
To Find:
The cost of one pencil and the cost of one pen.
Step 1: Defining Variables
Let the cost of one pencil be $x$ and the cost of one pen be $y$.
Step 2: Formulating the Equations
Based on the given conditions, we can write the following system of linear equations:
Equation 1: $5x + 7y = 50$
Equation 2: $7x + 5y = 46$
Step 3: Finding Coordinates for Graphical Representation
To plot these lines, we find at least two points for each equation.
For Equation 1: $5x + 7y = 50 \implies y = \frac{50 - 5x}{7}$
| $x$ | $y$ |
|---|---|
| 3 | 5 |
| 10 | 0 |
For Equation 2: $7x + 5y = 46 \implies y = \frac{46 - 7x}{5}$
| $x$ | $y$ |
|---|---|
| 3 | 5 |
| 8 | -2 |
Step 4: Visual Representation
Step 5: Solving the System
From the table of values, we observe that the point $(3, 5)$ satisfies both equations.
Verification for Equation 1: $5(3) + 7(5) = 15 + 35 = 50$ (Correct)
Verification for Equation 2: $7(3) + 5(5) = 21 + 25 = 46$ (Correct)
Step 6: Conclusion
Since the lines intersect at the point $(3, 5)$, the solution to the system is $x = 3$ and $y = 5$.
Final Answer: The cost of one pencil is ₹ 3 and the cost of one pen is ₹ 5.

I had an experience of 7 years in teaching ( Maths and Science). My accomplishments is to reorganized the things, innovations, practical learning and concept building and exploration of subject
Very good and listen my problem and clear all doubt individually . Very careful about students and help to complete my assignment.
My aim is to prepare students in there best ability and help them achieve good marks. My students scored above 80% in all subjects in class 10th
I was using the urban pro for home tuitions queries. It was very useful and productive platform for the job seekers like me. It helps the needed in giving the contacts and mutually. I would like to avail further services.
I have 5years of teaching experience where I implement Inductive ,Deductive teaching techinques in mathematics. I begin the teaching concepts of maths with basic level to high level which ensures the teaching learning process occurs even a below average student I make special work sheets for the brain nutrient students and also to the below average students ,so that helps students to become learn individually according to their level. In teaching maths concepts regarding Geometry , Trignometry and Areas and Circles here I use the concrete to semi concrete from thier i take them to abstract so child can easily familiar to the concept, teaching learning process occurs in a positive way. In teaching maths I use heuristic method which creates an enthusiasm among the students to learn maths subject and it eradicate the fear of maths from the students. As a teacher I teach according to the students taste and their interests, so teaching learning process will be occurred in a meaningful way. I observe the individual difference of the students while teaching, so that I can plan to teach according individual difference of the different students in the classroom. I use remedial class for the slow learners to develop in the subject. In this remedial session I mostly concentrating on the basic of maths subject so children can overcome the previous misunderstanding concepts regarding maths and here it will be taught his doubts regarding subject will be clarified. By teaching maths subject I make students all round development which is very valuable in the life.
As an experienced teacher for nine years, I have been teaching to make students interested in the subjects of Maths. My attitude is to help children improve in studies in the best possible way.
