Swati Lahiri is a global citizen of diverse and extensive professional, academic and personal experiences. Trained and working for years as a banker, she, informed by a combination of new experiences and personal resolve, has switched careers from a veteran banker to a Clinical Psychologist and English Lecturer. The blessings of new motherhood experiences and a daughter coming into being and of age have, above anything, made career switching less of an insurmountable act of upskilling and re-education and more of a fulfillment of professional, personal and spiritual wellness.
Swati, always capable of reinventing experiences, has managed to break free from conventional constraints of careers (and motherhood). By reinventing stints as part-time/substitute instructor at Kindercare Learning Center and Dublin Unified School District in California, USA, in fulfillment of course requirements for B.A. in Human Development & Clinical Psychology at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB), into a new career, she has shown to be a flexible, caring, motivated and a resilient educator. From 2010 on, she embraced education not just as a career yet also, perhaps more importantly and informed by a Nichiren Buddhist spiritual practice, as a lifelong calling.
She has invested in and contributed to local and wider community welfare. Offering unrelenting educational support, in volunteering (Volunteer & Liaison Officer at Calcutta Rescue) and professional (special assistance instructor) capacities, she continues to redefine educational experiences to make a real difference for as many stakeholders as possible, particularly students in most need for attention and support.
Swati has secured a solid spot in education by investing in and for education. In addition to an early Bcom in Accounting & Finance (Calcutta University), she, switching to education, has continued to gain academic knowledge and more solid conceptual understanding in education and pedagogy by earning a BA in Human Development & Clinical Psychology (California State University, East Bay), M.Ed in Curriculum Design (American International University) and PGCE in English Literacy & ESOL (University College London ).
She, an avid reader and advocate for critical and creative literacy, believes in a 21st century educational goals and (overdue) reform
