Music has been an inseparable part of my life for many years, and I feel fortunate to have spent over two decades teaching and training students in vocal music. Through UrbanPro, I continue my journey of sharing the beauty and depth of Indian classical and semi-classical music with learners from different backgrounds and age groups. Teaching for me is not just about imparting knowledge — it is about creating a meaningful musical connection with every student.

I hold a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree and have undergone extensive training in Indian music as part of my academic and artistic journey. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to understanding the nuances of classical vocal traditions and continuously refining my skills as both a performer and a teacher. My students’ positive feedback and long-term association with me have always motivated me to continue teaching with sincerity and dedication.

I specialize in teaching various forms of vocal music, including Khayal, Thumri, Dhrupad, Ghazal, and Bhajans. I have had the privilege of learning under highly respected and nationally reputed gurus whose teachings have deeply influenced my musical style and approach. My gurus include Pt. Sukhendu Goswami for Khayal, Pt. Abhay Narayan Mullick for Dhrupad, Vidushi Purnima Chaudhury for Thumri, and Pt. Govardhan Mishra for Thumri. Their guidance has helped me build a strong classical foundation that I now pass on to my students.

I strongly believe in the traditional Guru–Shishya Parampara and follow this approach while teaching my students. I conduct customized one-to-one sessions where I focus on each student’s strengths, learning pace, and musical goals. Whether a student is a beginner or already trained in music, I ensure that every lesson is interactive, disciplined, and encouraging. My aim is not only to teach songs and ragas but also to help students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of music.

Throughout my career, I have trained a large number of students from India as well as from countries such as the United States and several European nations. It gives me immense satisfaction to see my students grow in confidence and develop their own musical identity. Many of them have shared heartfelt feedback about their learning experiences, which continues to inspire me as a teacher.

Apart from teaching, I am also an active performer. I have performed Bhajans, Ghazals, and other vocal forms for All India Radio, which has enriched my understanding of stage performance and musical expression. My experience as a performer allows me to guide students not only in technical training but also in voice presentation, expression, and confidence while performing.

One of the proudest moments of my journey was receiving the Senior Fellowship from the Department of Culture, Government of India under the prestigious scheme “Fellowship for Outstanding Musicians.” This recognition has been a great honor and a reminder of my commitment to preserving and promoting Indian music. I look forward to continuing this journey by nurturing passionate learners and helping them discover the joy and discipline that music brings into life.
