I suggest you to start from the basic like Collection in Java6 then slowly moves on How Java6 Collection Api has changed in Java 8. Main source if information on Java is oracle documentation. But it takes your time to read through, a lot more than you expect. Better prefer a trainer who can give what you need.

First approach your teacher or tutor about problem statement and ask for solution to get it solved.. Next practise similar kind of things by using other books or google or youtube help... If you u facing any challenges...
