Whats the difference between Keyboard Western and Carnatic?

Music Classes

Notations are different. As stated in the question itself both styles are different, unique and requires time and effort to master. A person trained in both can have better scope in fusion music.

Western music is related to Western America (old English songs) whereas Carnatic music is one of the two main sub-genre of Indian classical music.

Western music is the harmonial forms using several different notes with progressional grammer to the music. Carnatic music is monophonic forms, its basicaly have movements from one note to other called ragalakshana as per grammer in that raga.

Yeah you can, this is completely fine, it's not ideal of course and there is a risk of the string snapping at the kink where it originally wrapped around the post, but for the most part you should be fine.
