An Octave in Hindustani Classical music is called SAPTAK.

A SAPTAK is a set of 12 Notes out of which 7 are Shudh Swaras, 5 are Vikrut Swaras.

There are three types of SAPTAK.

1. MANDRA

2.MADHYA

3.TAAR.

MANDRA SAPTAK is predominantly used while playing or singing music.
