Vidya,it varies from student to student.Some are naturally talented and within 3-4 years get ready for a full fledged concert,but for a very average student our advise would be to go step by step.First learn the structured lessons properly for couple of years,then start with Manodharma practise/sadhakam.Meanwhile...

Depends upon the student only..someone starts performing after one year..some after 10 years....

Classical Music is like doing yoga for your voice so, it needs practice but not for so long, can give only 1 hour per day, but it has to be daily. According to me the first step is singing in the chorus.
