If all goes well with you, the learning combined with your regular and sincere practice, you can perform on stages in a small way by 18 months from starting to learn vocal music. 18 months is a reasonable time for a normal person to start performing. 3.. Vidya,it varies from student to student.Some are naturally talented and within 3-4 years get ready for a full fledged concert,but for a very average student our advise would be to go step by step.First learn the structured lessons properly for couple of years,then start with Manodharma practise/sadhakam.Meanwhile listen a lot to get more ideas and learn from a proper Guru.With Gurus consent only you should start performing solo.Meanwhile if you are very much interested in performance,learn small devotional songs side by side,and sing in small functions ,temples,poojas etc from the beginner level.This will help in overcoming stage fright read less
