I would say 7th or 8th standard is ideal to start the IIT Foundation Course.

The right time to join your niece in the IIT Foundation course is right from her 8th standard.Because,in 8th standard they will have basic subject foundation, in 10th accelerated foundation and in Intermediate Comprehensive foundation on Subjects!.

Hi Geeta, Your niece can start the iit foundation course from his 7th standard. You can also check with certain coaching or learning institutes, they even offer the course to 6th standard. Thanks

Geeta! Eff. 8th Std. OK. Because some students do not like over-study from 6th std. onwards. If you impose from 6th std. onwards, your niece might revolt (due to pressure) after 9th std.

Till then, she must try hard to excel in her school exams, should prepare for open olympiads in maths and science and solve questions from alternate reference books for maths and science, like RD Sharma, Modern's ABC, RS Aggrawal, etc. For solving the alternate books, she may take the aid of a good, qaulified teacher. Teacher's qualification in this case is very important because he/she will be the one who will teach and build her fundamentals in the subjects, which will decide her future success. read less
