How do I improve reading skills for IELTS?

The best way to improve reading is to read a lot and from varied sources: Magazines, articles, reports, books--fiction, non-fiction. The only way to do this is to take up whatever interests you and get down to reading it, for your own pleasure.

Reading and understanding what you read is very important . IELTS has passages that test your comprehension skills together with speed therefore it is necessary to have skills to crack it.
