The best guitar for a beginner would always be the acoustic. It is very easy to start with the chord patterns and learn the strumming.

It is an unfortunate incident. But before paying an advance, it is advised to request for a demo class from the trainer to authenticate. A genuine trainer would not engage in these kind of activities. Please do contact the platforms customer care.
