"I have been taking classes with Nalini ma'am for about 6 months now (we started around April 20, 2022). We do 3 classes per week in the evenings. Our medium of communication is English, although we are increasingly using more and more Telugu as I become comfortable with instructions and teaching in Telugu. For some background, I am a typical Delhi guy who's mother tongue is Hindi. I studied in English medium in my schooling years and am currently a PhD student in Computer Science. I'm 23. We started by learning the Telugu alphabet when we started in April, and learned some basics from a UKG textbook PDF. Then, we began moving our way up the different Andhra Pradesh/Telangana state board textbooks. In 6 months only, we completed the entire textbooks (all stories, poems, exercises) of classes UKG, 1, 2, 3 and 4. This is a lot of content considering each grade's textbook takes kids one full year. But, her teaching style is amazing and we have made a lot of progress. She is very patient as a teacher, has a very strong background in Telugu since she's a native speaker and studied in Telugu medium. I love my classes and look forward to them (even when I'm not too prepared). She doesn't assign any homework but I still try to spend time doing the book exercises, watching Telugu movies, listening to Telugu songs, or attempting to read Eenadu headlines because exposure is the only way to improve. Other than working through the textbooks, she also has fun exercises prepared sometimes like songs, movies, ads, that we listen/watch and analyze. We also practice speaking and listening skills, but I think there is no substitute to reading a lot and building a strong base in a language by taking the time, and the school textbooks have served as an amazing solution for that. I think its also important to connect with your teacher and I've had some very interesting conversations with her. She keeps the class mood light and funny, but we also focus on our work. I've also learned a lot about Telugu culture from her, which I am grateful for. I will continue learning with her and working my way up through the school textbooks to continue building on my foundation in Telugu. I would highly recommend Nalini Ma'am as a teacher. You will love your Telugu classes and make a lot of progress."
