Hindi is a member of the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European language family, and is closely related to other languages such as Bengali, Punjabi, and Urdu. One of the unique features of Hindi is its use of a writing system called Devanagari, which is used to write several other languages in India and Nepal as well.
