Which certification is better for big data, Hortonworks or Cloudera? Why?

Both Hortonworks and cloudera takes equal weight. But if you go via brand value, i would suggest cloudera.

Both are having good value in the industry because both are hands on exam, not objective type. In HDP certified developer you don't find Spark, which is part of Cloudera certification. Hadoop is good but it depends on your experience. If you don't know basic java, linux, shell scripting. Hadoop is not beneficial for you.
