Any SQL knowledege is add on advantage to learn Hadoop and Spark . Most of the concept are being used from SQL to pig ,Hive ,SparkSQL SparkHive .It is better to be good in SQL .

Big Data Architect

Not the whole thing but the fundamentals will do your job. You don't need to go through the entire course of SQL server, W3 schools can help you here.
