One of the earliest pioneers was George Beauchamp, who, along with Adolph Rickenbacker, developed the first commercially successful electric guitar in the 1930s. Their company, Electro String Instrument Corporation, later became Rickenbacker International Corporation. Another important contributor was Les Paul, a renowned guitarist and inventor. Les Paul experimented with solid-body designs and developed the iconic Gibson Les Paul guitar, which played a significant role in popularizing the electric guitar. Leo Fender, founder of the Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company (later known as Fender Musical Instruments Corporation), also made groundbreaking contributions. Fender introduced the Broadcaster (later renamed Telecaster) in 1950 and the Stratocaster in 1954, which became iconic models in the electric guitar world. read less
